The Violet Flame Cacao Brew
This is my daily brew, chosen over coffee for focus and mood.
This preparation is designed to preserve the beneficial compounds in cacao, particularly flavanols, minerals, and theobromine, which are most present in chocolate that is 80% cacao or higher.*
Benefits
- Supports circulation and healthy blood flow
- Enhances mental clarity and focus
- Naturally supports mood and emotional openness
- Encourages a calm, energized state without spikes
The Alchemy Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons cacao powder
- 3 tablespoons cacao nibs
- 4 cups spring water, hot but not boiling
To each serving, add
- 1 teaspoon Castelvetrano olive oil, grass-fed butter (ghee), or MCT coconut oil
Optional Additions
- Raw honey, to taste
- Lion’s Mane mushroom distillate
- A pinch of Ceylon cinnamon
- A pinch of cayenne

The Ritual Method
Heat spring water until steaming but not boiling. Add cacao powder and nibs to a high-powered blender, then pour in the hot water. Blend until smooth.
The prepared cacao may be stored in the refrigerator for up to four days. When ready to enjoy, gently reheat and whisk to aerate, or serve chilled if preferred.
Pour into a cup and add the fat, spices, and sweetener if using. Sip slowly.
Prepare with presence. Drink with awareness.

*Why Cacao’s Health Benefits Begin at 80% and Rise From There
It’s important to note that many of the cardiovascular and metabolic benefits associated with cacao only truly exist when cacao content reaches 80% and above. Below that threshold, sugar and processing dilute the very compounds responsible for cacao’s reputation as a heart-healthy, mood-enhancing food.
This is why I work almost exclusively with 100% cacao powder. In its pure form, cacao is rich in flavanols that support circulation, help maintain the integrity of blood vessel linings, and stabilize free radicals that contribute to inflammation and oxidative stress. These compounds are at their most potent when cacao is minimally processed and free from added sugars.
I also blend cacao powder with cacao nibs, the whole bean in its most elemental state, including the natural silk of the cocoa butter. This preserves the full spectrum of cacao’s fats, fibers, and phytonutrients, while offering a grounding texture and depth that refined chocolate simply cannot provide. Rather than acting as a probiotic itself, cacao serves as a powerful prebiotic, feeding beneficial gut bacteria that influence everything from immunity to mood regulation.
When prepared with spring water and a touch of raw honey, or paired with a glycerin-based mushroom distillate, the result is a drink that feels both nourishing and activating. The combination supports healthy blood flow, steadies oxidative stress, and gently elevates neurotransmitters linked to focus, pleasure, and emotional openness.
And yes, this matters. Because cacao does not just support the heart in a physiological sense. It has long been associated with aphrodisiac qualities, not as stimulation, but as coherence. People often describe a feeling of warmth, presence, and an unusual readiness to engage with the world. A subtle confidence. A soft magnetism. A sense of being in love with life itself.
If you feel it after drinking cacao, you are not imagining it.
This philosophy is guiding my work on a very special cacao powder blend drink, designed to honor cacao’s ancient intelligence while supporting modern nervous systems, circulation, and creative vitality.
